On 11th April 2026, as part of our empowering older people – digital safety awareness project, we provided a workshop to Veterans Community Lanarkshire.
Some of the responses to ‘The best thing I learned at the workshop‘ – be wary when answering the phone, how easily details can be obtained, check domain address, how to check links, to be aware of scams, https and website identification, how to create a strong password, 159 phone number and what to use it for, how to spot scams, random 3 word passwords, spotting scam emails.
The thing I enjoyed most about today was – lots of good information, good wide discussion, how information was provided to us, learning about online security, getting useful information, finding out more information about scams, learning things I never thought of before, learning how to spot fake emails, knowing I’m not the only one struggling with technology and feeling scared of scams.

This workshop (and the other 5 digital safety awareness sessions) were funded by The National Lottery Community Fund without whom we would have been unable to support the local older communities in North Lanarkshire.
