HEALTH INFORMATION EVENT 26/8/26

The Living Well for Longer: Practical Supports for Older People event was held on 26 August 2026 and hosted by Voice of Experience Forum. The event was designed to provide older people with useful, accessible information about services and supports available in North Lanarkshire, while creating opportunities for learning, discussion, networking and connection.

The central aim was for older people to feel more informed, connected and confident. The event sought to:

  • increase awareness of the range of supports available to maintain or improve health;
  • promote NHS Lanarkshire’s Active Wards initiative;
  • inform and support discussion around mental health through Stigma Free Lanarkshire; and
  • increase awareness of practical supports available through North Lanarkshire Council’s Making Life Easier service, helping older people remain safe within their own homes in later life.

Registration was capped at 100 and had to be closed due to capacity restrictions, with some requests having to be placed on a wait list. Of the 100 people who registered for the event, 86 attended. Forty-six attendees completed an evaluation form, representing 54% of those attending. The feedback therefore provides a substantial indication of participants’ experience and learning. Attendees were present from a wide range of localities within North Lanarkshire and included local Councillors and a Member of the Scottish Government.

The Board and staff would like to thank our funder, The National Lottery Community Fund, without whose support this event would not have been possible.
